Properties

Use properties to describe and classify your users across all Workleap products. Default properties come ready-to-go in all Workleap subscriptions, but Admins and Executives can create and manage custom properties from the Properties page.

Tip: You can update your users' default and custom properties from the Users page or Bulk Provisioning.

Default properties

The default properties for all Workleap subscriptions are:

  • Gender (option)
  • Birth date (date)
  • Company (option)
  • Department (option)
  • Direct Manager (relationship)
  • Hire date (date)
  • Termination date (date)
  • City (option)
  • State/Province (option)
  • Country (option)
Default properties appear in the Properties list but cannot be edited or deleted.

Properties list

The Properties list lets you view and manage your organization's properties. You can see each property's name, data type, creator, and the number of segments it's attached to from the Properties list.

Create a property

To create a new custom property:

  1. Open Settings and select Properties from the side menu.
  2. From the Properties list, select Create a property.
  3. Enter the name of the new property.
  4. Select a data type (choice, date, or number).
  5. If you selected the choice data type, select New value to add a value to the property.
    • The values you add represent what can be assigned to a user for a given property. For example, for the property Tenured, you might add the values Yes and No.
    • You can add as many values as you like to a property.
    • Properties can't have multiple values that are identical.
  6. Select Save to save your selections and create the property.

The custom properties you create here appear in your users' details. You can edit a single user's properties from the Users page or edit multiple users' properties at once through Bulk Provisioning.

Edit a property

To edit a custom property:

  1. Open Settings and select Properties from the side menu.
  2. From the Properties list, locate and select the property you wish to edit.
    • Use the search bar to search for the property by name if necessary.
  3. Edit the property name and values as desired.
    • You cannot delete properties that are attached to a segment. You can, however, rename them.
  4. Select Save to save your edits.

Delete a property

To delete a custom property:

  1. Open Settings and select Properties from the side menu.
  2. From the Properties list, check the box next to all the properties you wish to delete.
  3. Select Delete, then confirm the action in the pop-up.
You can't delete properties that are attached to a segment.
